Kalpa is the biggest and most beautiful hill village of Kinnaur district. Which is situated in the valley of river Sutlej. This village is situated at an altitude of about 2960 meters above sea level. Kalpa is surrounded by Deodar , apple , and pinus gerardiana chilghoza trees . Surrounded by the Himalayan hills on all sides, this village is very attractive.
From here the snow-capped peaks of Kinnar Kailash look very beautiful. Kinnar Kailash is famous for changing colours. The local residents of Kalpa follow both Hindu and Buddhist practices. There are many temples in Kalpa which are dedicated to both Hindu and Buddhist deities. Pagoda style architecture and monasteries are quite common in this area. Kalpa has an average literacy rate of 83.75%. The first voter of independent India, Mr. Shyam Saran Negi is also from Kalpa.
The Narayan Nagini Temple of Kalpa is also a tourist attraction. This temple is built in Tibetan pagoda style. This temple is built on a high peak. A beautiful view of Kinnaur district can be seen from here. Near this temple is the Hu-Bu Lan-kar Monastery. Kamru Fort can also be seen at some distance from here. Kalpa is situated at a distance of about 51 kilometers from the famous Sangla Valley of Kinnaur.
