Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley and located at an elevation of 4270 meters or 14900 feet. It is located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part
of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is the part of Lahaul And Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. The name Spiti means The Middle Land. It is the land between Tibet and India.
The valley or region is one of the least populated regions in India and is the gateway to the northernmost areas of the nation.
The capital of Spiti is Kaza which is situated along the Spiti River at an elevation of about 12,500 feet or 3,800 m above mean sea level.
