Saru lake or Saru tal is a natural lake located in the Chanshal valley attracts tourists. This lake is situated between Chanshal Peak and Jeevshul Temple. As far as can be reached Saru lake by a short trek. This lake is situated on the top of hills like Thalli. This lake is situated in the middle of the grasslands of Chanshal valley. It is a holy water place. The water of this lake is crystal clear. The mesmerizing views can be enjoyed in this short trek.
If you are a snow lover and want to enjoy the snow clad hills, then you can come here in the month of May. During this time the hills remain covered with snow. From here there is a panoramic view of snow-clad peaks and mountains. This trek is start from Chanshal top which is about 8 kms. Very few people know about it. Here you can get a beautiful view of sunrise and sunset.
You have to camp here overnight. You must have a tent, sleeping bag and most importantly a fire extinguisher. Pack your food and drink with you and take it with you. There are no accommodation facilities around here. There are two ways to reach Cypress Lake. The first trek starts from Chanshal Top. The second route goes through Khasdar village. It will take around 5-6 hours to complete this trek.
Chanshal Valley is located at a distance of about 180 km from Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. You can easily reach here by bus and taxi. To reach Chanshal Peak, first reach Rohru from Shimla via Kharapathar, Hatkoti. From Rohru the road reaches Chanshal valley via Chidgaon, Laroti.
