Bharmour is a very beautiful and small town situated in the middle of the Himalayan mountains of Chamba district. It is situated at an altitude of about 2195 meters above sea level. Bharmour is located at a distance of about 64 kms from Chamba city. Bharmour is considered to be the ancient capital of Chamba district. It is also known as Brahmapur. Bharmour is famous for the ancient temple here. About 1400 years old Chaurasi Temple situated in the center of the city is a major center of tourist attraction. There are many ancient temples built here as well. It is said that 84 saints visited here in the 10th century. Who blessed the kings 10 sons and one daughter Champavati. Hence this temple is known as Chaurasi. The temple of Yama Dharmaraja is situated in Bharmour. Who is considered the god of death. This temple is the only temple in the world. Along with this temple there is also a temple of Chitragupta who is the brother of Dharmaraja. Chitragupta keeps the account of the dead soul. Along with the temple, two and a half pauris remain. Hadsar is a small town in Chamba district. It is situated at a distance of about 72 kms from Chamba city. Hadsar is also called the base camp of Manimahesh Yatra. Manimahesh Lake It is a mountain lake located in Bharmour region of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Its height is about 5653 M above the sea level. Manimahesh Lake is also known as Dal Lake. Manimahesh Lake is a holy pilgrimage site in Hinduism. This lake is considered to be one of the famous pilgrimage sites of Lord Shiva. According to legend, Lord Shiva created Manimahesh Lake after marrying Goddess Parvati. A mountain is situated near this lake called Manimahesh Kailash Parvat. Here a huge fair is organized every year according to the Hindu calendar in the month of Bhadrapada (August to September). This fair lasts for seven days. This fair is also called Manimahesh Yatra. It is believed that Manimahesh Yatra remains incomplete without taking bath in Brahmani Devi Kund. Brahmani Devi Kund is situated at a distance of about 04 kms from Bharmour. During this journey you can visit Kamal Kund and Gauri Kund before reaching Manimahesh Lake. Manimahesh Lake can be reached only by trekking. This trekking is about 14 kilometers from a place called Hadsar. By reaching here, you can see the very beautiful natural scenery here. The mountain situated near the lake, whose reflection in the clear water of the lake looks very beautiful, attractive and charming.
